I AM IN SEOUL!!

I have arrived safe and sound. I don't have internet, or TV yet...so its a bit isolated....but there will be pics..and more to come late next week!

So far Seoul has been pretty cool! Teaching..well...our school is a little intense..no dodgeball for our kids...but I am excited to get my first day of teaching under my belt today.

Our apartment is tiny, but cute. It has all the essentials, and is quickly becoming our home away from home. I am adapting quicker then I thought. The first two days were challenging, but I am really enjoying the experience now!

Alright, off to try some Dolsa Bee Beem Bap because its "so delicious"!!! I am really enjoyingthe food, although I never REALLY know what I am eating. (fingers crossed we haven't eaten any kittens yet!!)

CHRISTMAS in APRIL???

I have never missed Christmas with my family. My biggest concern with leaving for a year, is missing my first Christmas..especially with the kids in the family now. However, my family seemed to save the holiday...just a little ahead of schedule.

A special thanks goes out to my Mom and sisters for thier awesome cooking even if I couldn't eat much with my throat so freaking swollen, and my Grandparents for joining the fun!!

I think my Grandpa Mullin said it best "Well, now you have no choice, you gotta get outta here" followed quickly by Grandma Turnbull "if you have any trouble in that country, RUN LIKE HELL to the army base"

My Dad put his wise words on the cake.

Better now then in Korea

Well, its been quite an eventful week. I was thinking it would be somewhat busy...mostly relaxing/visiting with family..until the big day when I am off for a year. I went to my sister Cindys for the weekend, to visit my two nephews Curtis and Aaron. And by the end of the weekend I had strep throat...bad news!! I was in denial for the first day, and after a very sleepless pain filled night, I gave in and went to a walk in clinic. TWO hours later, I was given some drugs..and on my way. THEN the horrible part. The pain was getting worse..I was feeling sick, and sleeping all day...I looked in the mirror at my throat..is this is simliar to what I saw...warning...its just gross!!!

My sister Cindy googled this on the internet, and had me booked into surgery by the weekend. Apparently when that ball at the back of your throat attaches to your tonsils...its not a good thing. I was almost panicing thinking that I am leaving the country in less then two weeks, and the last thing I need is surgery!! Luckily I am going to live, and my sisters short lived medical career has been put to rest! Turns out this is one of the many charming side effects of strep throat!!
